BELLOWS FALLS — A 41-year-old Bellows Falls woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with the death of her mother last year.

Bellows Falls Police said they arrested Nancy Boardman and charged her with the death of Ann Marie Boardman, 70, of Bellows Falls, who died last August. The daughter was charged with involuntary manslaughter and neglect of a vulnerable adult.

Nancy Boardman was released on citation and will be arraigned in Windham Superior Court, criminal division, on Tuesday.

According to Ann Marie Boardman's obituary from August 2017, she graduated from Bellows Falls High School but had spent most of her adult life in the Newport, N.H., area. The daughter's Facebook page said she worked at the Claremont, N.H. Walmart, and had previously worked at Pizza Hut.

Ann Marie Boardman grew up in Bellows Falls, and worked at St. Johnsbury Trucking, and later became co-owner of an ice cream shop in Newport.

She was married to Carlot Boardman, who died in 2006.

Bellows Falls Police Chief Ron Lake referred all comment on the Boardman case to the Windham County State's Attorney's office.

David Gartenstein, deputy state's attorney, said the investigation into the elder Boardman's death had taken so long because tests had to be completed before a final autopsy report was completed.

"These types of investigations take time," he said.

The Bellows Falls Police Department, along with Vermont Adult and Protective Services, as well as the Vermont Medical Examiner's office conducted the investigation, according a release from the Bellows Falls department.
