Workshop covers acrylic mediums
SAXTONS RIVER — Main Street Arts is offering an introductory class in acrylic mediums on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Instructor Heather Geoffrey, MSA artistic director, will provide an overview of how the use of acrylic mediums can transform the way to use paint.
Geoffrey describes a medium as "a substance that is added to paint to change one or more of its properties." In acrylic mediums, the mixtures can be incorporated into the pigment to lengthen drying time, add thickness or change the texture. The class will cover gel mediums, texture mediums, flow mediums and slow-drying mediums.
Geoffrey is an interdisciplinary artist whose approach combines elements of acrylic painting, digital photography, written word and performance. She received a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies, with focuses on Borderland Theory and Spirituality in Artistic Process and Creation, and a master's in fine arts in interdisciplinary arts, both from Goddard College.
The fee for the class is $25. Pre-registration is required by contacting MSA at email@example.com or 802-869-2960. Further information is available at mainstreetarts.org/classes.
