Workshop covers housing sharing option for seniors
Annamarie Pluhar, founder of Sharing Housing, Inc., and author of "Sharing Housing, A Guidebook for Finding and Keeping Good Housemates," will be conducting a workshop to assist local agencies and their clients on how to use available tools and the process of finding and keeping a good home-mate. Aging in Place without Isolation: The Sharing Housing Option is a half-day workshop where participants will learn:
- Twenty-two benefits of sharing housing.
- The dangers of social isolation to physical and emotional health.
- Four guidelines for living well with others.
- A step by step process for selecting a good home-mate.
- An optional session at the conclusion of the workshop will be held for those who wish to participate in brainstorming next steps.
The workshop is interactive with exercises and group discussion as well as some lecture. There will be ample opportunity for Q&A.
The workshop will be held Friday, April 27, 8:30 a.m. to noon at Holton Hall, Winston Prouty. An optional session discussing next steps will be held from noon to 1 p.m.
The cost is $35 pre-registered by April 24, or $50 at the door. Two or more from same organization who pre-register by April 24, $30 each.
