WRC to discuss 'ancient roads' dilemma tonight

Thursday, May 31
TOWNSHEND -- "Ancient Roads" is the next topic in Windham Regional Commission's 2007 Cross-Town Talks series tonight at 7 at Townshend Town Hall.

Act 178, "An Act Relating to Unidentified Corridors," has gotten towns thinking about these "ancient roads," as well as other town roads that are not on the official Agency of Transportation highway map.

This session will start with a brief overview of the legislation, its deadlines, and what towns need to do in regard to their un-mapped public highways.

A panel of town officials and residents from the region will then present their towns approaches to Act 178, their research and public involvement methods, available resources, and problems they have encountered.

Previously held Forums have always been well attended with lively discussions between participants. Cross-Town Talks are sponsored by the Windham Regional Commission (WRC) to help officials of the Towns in the Windham Region to address current needs and issues effectively.

The series is free and open to the public. For more information contact WRC at 802-257-4547.
