Your Thanks: Can Cops Cook?

Editor of the Reformer,

I know, I know. I know I write every time we finish an event with what might seem like banal platitudes. Maybe it's tiresome to read about how great our community is? Maybe the gratitude we spread is like a breath of fresh air in what sometimes seems like a dark world? I'd like to think so as I write once again to acknowledge the wonderful people and businesses who have contributed to our fundraiser, Can Cops Cook?

We kicked off our 4th annual Can Cops Cook? on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the American Legion in Brattleboro, and it was a blast! The doors were flooded as soon as we opened them and we weren't able to catch a breath until the event ended. We are so proud to report that this was our most successful year yet, and we are just so grateful!

We would like to thank all of the law enforcement and firefighters who participated! We had members from Vermont State Police, Hinsdale Police Department, Brattleboro Police Department, Winhall Police and Rescue, Wilmington Police Department, Dover Police Department, Vermont Fish and Wildlife, Dover Fire Department, and Brattleboro Fire Department who cooked for us this year. What a fabulous representation of Windham County! Thank you, we most certainly could not have done it without you! Watch out, Rescue, Inc. We might call YOU next year.

We want to thank our Chief Sponsors, both G.S. Precision and New Chapter, for their generous donations to our event. Their sponsorships, coupled with the popularity of the event, really contributed to the success of this year's fundraiser! We are able to offer so much more to our clients because of partnerships like these. We would also like to thank our Sergeant Sponsors, Against the Grain Gourmet and the Elks Lodge as well as our Beat Cop Sponsors: Brattleboro Area Realty, Allard Lumber, Member's 1st Credit Union, Community Bank, and Market 32. Special thanks go out to Grafton Inn and West Dover Inn for gifting us with prizes for our winners and a big thanks to Pure Green Tees too! We are so proud to be a part of such a generous and philanthropic community that supports its nonprofits!

Our last thanks go out to Sonya and the crew at the American Legion for helping us put together such a wonderful event! We love our community and we are so grateful for all of you that showed up in different ways to support Safe Place Child Advocacy Center! Thank you all so much!

In gratitude,

Abby Bliss, Safe Place Child Advocacy Center

Brattleboro, Feb. 1
